Hi,
What's the best ISO to use when shooting star trails? I have shot star trails before at ISO 200 but a lot of photos I checked out on flickr were shot at 1600 and above. I always though that 200 would be best?! Any tips as going Cornwall tonight and hope to get a few clear nights :D

In the great scheme of things stars are pretty faint, so the higher ISO you use, the more of them you will capture. Obviously you will have to balance this with noise issues, which to some extent will depend on your camera, as some cameras are better with high ISO than others. For me I find that 400 or 800 is a reasonable compromise.

Forget about noise if you're stacking images to for your trails. And you should be stacking, if only to minimise noise.

yep once your stacking the images noise isnt really an issue anymore, i generally use iso 1600 and an exposure around 15-20 (adjusting the apperture to get the exposure bang on) seconds on my 1000d as that gives me the brightest image but once they have been stacked ontop of each other noise isnt really an issue :)
