Yesterday I saw a flock of 25 starlings fly down onto our front lawn, our neighbour's front lawn and the grass verges between the footpath and the road. Today the same flock came down onto our back lawn. I was in the summer house and it was amazing to watch them finding worms and the like. They make me laugh. They are continually beating up on each other despite there being a large lawn. .
I mention this because, they along with sparrows and greenfinches, are in the steepest decline of all our native birds. There were four sparrows and a couple of blackbirds,too.
