Start up problem on desktop

When I start up DT all's well until I try to do anything (ie....click on start etc ) then it freezes , tried right clicking , nothing, tried pressing escape , same thing nothing happens, the only thing that works is when I do ctlr alt delete for the usual options .... Any ideas

Could be explorer hanging, or the mouse is dead..

Try ending explorer in task manager and see if the mouse comes back.

You could always try a bit of trial and error with ending processes in the task manager. You should eventually figure out which one is causing the problem and then take the necessary action?

Also, try going to the performance tab in task manager and select the Resource Monitor button. Can be quite handy to see what's being accessed etc.
