If anyone along the South Coast is interested, there will be a steam train running along the Coastway to the West Country on Saturday 24th.

The train is being pulled by the Bulleid Pacific no.34067 "Tangmere".

The train will arrive at Worthing Central at 09.31,then will arrive at Chichester at 10.00 on the out-bound journey.

Return journey times are Chichester at 19.53 and Worthing Central 20.19.

Full timetable here.

UK Steam Info is the website to check for mainline steam running, and updates to timetables.

Shame that I am working tomorrow, but I will attempt to get a photo of it as passes between Angmering and Roundstone on the return journey in the evening, there is a pedestrian crossing point half way between these 2 locations and you can see for about half a mile in each direction.

Got photo's of a Hastings diesel from that point at the end of March last year.

Alastair, thanks for the timetable, I have bookmarked that site for future use.
I am aware that this same train is due to come this way again on June 30.

The other handy bit of that site John is the loco movements.. this picks up light engine and empty running before and after rail tours, turning the engine/train between scheduled legs, and test runs.

It looks like the Railway Herald is finally getting its subscription system sorted and will be subscription only at the end of the month. It's a shame because it was an interesting occasional read and also listed rail tours.

Railtrack have rather inconsiderately erected a rather tall fence at a new location I tried, should have taken a ladder, so had to go up the line a bit to a footbridge, so the angles weren't as good.

Ken, at least you got some pictures of it, which is more than I did.

The train was supposed to have arrived at Worthing at 20.19, I stood alongside the track from 19.45 until about 20.55 and saw nothing but normal electric trains, no sign of steam anywhere, and froze my butt off in the process.

Should have a better chance the next time it comes through at the end of June.
