Any suggestions? Requirements are it must be arca swiss compatible and be able to keep a 70-210mm steady with the camera tripod mounted not the lens.

Been looking at upgrading tripod as a whole but without spending a shed load of cash it seems I'm not going to get a better tripod, so I'm thinking of just upgrading the head which is what seems to be the weak link at the moment.

Benro B2/B3/J2 come to mind but lets see what else might suit

Feisol CB-40D is the best 'budget' head I've used, and is very strong - which you'll need if you're attaching to the camera (hope it's not the 70-200/2.8 version ).

Scroll down and check the video here http://www.traumflieger.de/desktop/ballhead/ballheads3.php You don't need to understand German to know what he's saying ;)

Looked it up but can only find a single, American supplier, and yes was thinking 80-200 2.8 mounted from the camera! :gag:

How do you find the clamping force? I can get my KS0 to do what I need, but it requires molegrips to tighten the knobs!

Might well be getting that, just counting what's left of my pennies having purchased a macro lens for no particular reason.

And a lens collar?

The heaviest stuff is my multi-row panorama setup and even totally off-center, there's no problem holding it after a light turn with knob.
I think my friend Sotiris did some stress test with the Benro, but am off to work now :cuckoo: but do a search on SCV Photography ideas...
