Step-up ring for lee filters

Quick question - I have recently bought a 77mm lee wide angle adaptor ring for my Sigma 10-20mm.

To use the Lee ND grad filters on my Sigma 17-70mm (filter thread 72mm), can I just buy a 72-77mm step up ring (just over a fiver at speedgraphic btw ;) rather than forking out for a 72mm wide angle adaptor ring?

Thanks in advance for any help.
 
Can't see why not as the filter is bigger than the lens, vignetting should not be a problem
 
Cool, that's what I thought but I just wanted to double check that step-up rings fit the Lee adaptors?
