Yes
I've just sent my application off for the HND professional photography course at Stevenson, which starts at the end of august. I'm just wondering if anyone has done the course and if they feel it was worthwhile.
I want to start a career in photography, but have no studio experience and I really want to be taught as much as possible, as well as having a professional qualification (pretty neccessary these days).
I'm having a minor crisis because I really want to make sure that it's the right thing to do, so any info on how the course was and how much you learn would be very helpful, and did you manage to find jobs with studios etc afterwards, or start off on your own successfully, or do you feel it wasn't worth it?

Thanks guys

Stellarbeam/ Jessica did, see above thread. She's not been active since April though but you may be able to contact her through flickr.

You will probably need prior studio experience to get into Stevenson at HND, it's a very very popular course there and I think the spaces were very limited this year. I was accepted to Stevenson for the Degree Foundation but chose not to go there. Be prepared if you get an interview, they like to see a well presented portfolio.

I've only heard good things about it. I did the HND at Glasgow Met, both are quite similar apparently. Studio experience isnt that important, I didnt have any. A good portfolio and lots of enthusiasm is helpful. :)

Thanks! Why did you choose not to go?

It just didn't feel right so I chose to go elsewhere. Maybe if i'd had the tour of the studios and darkrooms i'd have gone there but for some reason I just had an interview and no tour so I wasn't aware of their equipment etc.

Good luck with your application and be sure to let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the reply! Did the course work out well for you? What are you up to now, was it difficult to find work?

I am doing a degree now but most of the people who graduated last year (well the hardworking and determined ones) have work. :)

Nice one that's good to know, I hope the degree is going well! Do you happen to know where any of them got work?
