hi

i'm going down to my daughters house tomorrow,to assemble some wardrobes for her,and once done..i'd like to go photograph stonehenge, which is about 10 mins from where she lives, but would i be allowed to photograph it with a DSLR,and would i be allowed to use a tripod?

i'm hoping to get there for sunset,as i think given the conditions, the stones would make for a great foreground.

thanks in advance

No problems with a DSLR, a tripod should not be an issue either but opening times maybe? or shoot from outside the fence.

Taking your camera in is no problem and I think you can still take a tripod. Your big problem here is that they close before sunset at this time of year. 16.00 being chucking out time and 16.12 is sundown.

But since it's only 50m from the A303 and the A344, shooting from outside the wire is no problem...

Turn off from the A303 leading to the entance, park on the side of the road and walk up to the fence. Stonehenge closing at 4 aswell means no people in the shot when the sun decides to go down either, happy days.

Oh and one other tip, no matter how easy the wardrobes look, READ the instructions BEFORE you start, otherwise you will never see the sunset:D

cheers guys...may well shoot outside the fence then, plus it'll save me £6 or so for the entry[tight welsh git you see ;)].

just how high is the fence ie; will i be able to set up my tripod without the fence getting in the way?

If memory serves, the fence is about 4-5 feet high, I don't think it would cause too many problems shooting over it.

As far as I remember the fence is 6' high.

The verge rises above the pavement in some places, gaining another foot or so. It's chainlink fence that forms 2" diagonal squares, you may have problems trying to get a lens through.

Hope you have some luck with it, should be lovely conditions.

If you can put up wardrobes and still have time to go out and take some pictures.

You really are the man!!

Good luck.
yep,got the wardrobes done by 12.30pm..then met up with willbaroo[william] just before sunset.the fence was indeed 6ft high, but still managed to get some shots over the fence...just!

thanks for all the input...really appreciated

So you going to show us some? :)

i've not long got home, and have had food and shower...also tired as i've been awake since 4.30 this morning,so will most likely be tomorrow as my brain is too tired the think processing:gag:
