think your being too harsh on him.
My grip is a fussy thing.
I can leave the battery in the charger and stick it straight into the grip and it'll read wrong sometimes.
I am sure you have to insert the batteries into the grip after attaching the grip to the camera. I think if you do it before all sorts of wrong readings will occour?
Don't hold me to this though...
