I had a chance to PX 17-40mm in the show for Sigma 35mm so I obviously went ahead. Now I am looking for a stop gap lens around 17-20mm mainly for architecture and interiors.
Manual focus legacy glass with adapter is totally fine. All I need is good corner-to-corner FF sharpness at f/8 or at least f/11 (ironically it means it would have to beat 17-40mm hands down
), filter thread and a bargain basement price tag.
I want this to be pretty cheap and wait for new reasonable Canon or Sigma UWA to show up. 17TSE or Zeiss 21 are a bit expensive!
I have Samyang 14mm which I could also use, but some clients hate the extreme ultra wide distortion, [incorrectly] described as almost fisheye like. There is an option to crop in to the frame, but would it be a good match for regular 18mm lens?
All landscape work is done with 24-70mm II, so the loss of 17-40mm is not an issue, except I have to upgrade ND filters to 82mm.
