Stop Your External Hard Drive Going To Sleep

Not sure if this is allowed so please remove it if not.

I have 4 external hard drives (USB) that I use for backing up my photos, storing my PSD files on amongst other things.

What annoyed me about external hard drives is that they go to sleep and can take several secs for them to wake up, I know this is not a long time but it can be annoying if you want to open a file.

There are programs out there that allow you to control which of your external drives you wish to keeps awake or not.

Have you tried looking at Advanced Settings under Power Options. You can customise your Power Plan so you can decide when Hard Disks turn off and when USB suspends?
