Hi all, I am in the middle of building my website and was just wondering how do you go about stopping people just printing off the images straight from your site. I have had a look around and have noticed that some off you have put your copyright logo across the picture. How do you do that as I am struggling figuring it out.

Again Many Thanks

Dave

It's not difficult to do and can be automated to a degree. It all depends on what tools you have at your disposal.

Try this.

Also, try searching the post processing forum for 'watermark'. There's loads of methods available.

think that the majority of photoshop programs enable you to watermark your pic

I use corel pro photo editing programme and this is a very simple thing todo am sure that those using other programmes will be able to tell you if its poss with there programmes

what prograqmme are you using

Have a read of this rather wonderful post.

It's not specifically answering your question, but you'll find it very useful.

In short - you cant. If its on the web, people can take it. So, if you dont want people to steal your photos, dont put them on the web, but wheres the fun in that? Sure you can slow the process down of people taking them, or making it harder. Placing them in a flash slideshow, huge copyright logo, disable right click etc.. All these can be gotten round.

The best compromise is not to put hi-res versions online, keep them at around 600-800px along the longest edge, keep the overall quality slightly lower and the watermark helps to some degree. Exif data and file names also help too.
