Had a search but didn't come up with anything, although I'm sure this must have come up dozens of times in the past!

Having had film cameras in the past which have succumbed to the dreaded fungus can anyone tell me the best way to store digital camera equipment at home?

Are these cases preferable to bags when thinking about humidity etc?

A Peli won't prevent fungus. The spores are everywhere and it doesn't take much moisture to activate them. If storing in a Peli for a long period, put plenty of dry silica gel sachets in with the kit and check they're doing their job from time to time. The best way I've heard to prevent fungus is to leave the kit in full sunlight.

How long will the kit be stored for and why? Might be worth considering selling it now and replacing at the end of the "storage" period if it's a fair while - good excuse for any wanted upgrade too!!!
 
Sorry, perhaps 'stored' isn't the right word. What I mean is kept at home under normal circumstances. In the bag in a wardrobe for example. I'm not worried about anything getting physically damaged, but I'm paranoid about avoiding any chance of fungus. At the moment I put it away at night and bring it out of the bag into the light in the daytime - how paranoid is that? :)

I would say that that's normal use and not to worry! Make sure the kit isn't put away damp. use all the lenses from time to time and at the first sign of fungus (should it rear its ugly head!), deal with it fast and brutally.
 
Thanks for that. I'm looking around for 'colour changing' silica gel packs. Can these be dried out on a radiator or do they really need to go into an oven as I've read?
