Strange EXIF

Looking through the shots ive taken with the D3S and 400MM in the EXIF for all of the shots it says the Focal Length is 403.2MM

Has anyone else encountered this or know what causes it?

it also does this with my nikon 70 - 200 f2.8, i have wondered why too..
