Yep, passion flower it is.......mine came out a lot earlier on in the summer HERE
It is so deep from tip of stamen to base of it that it is very difficult to get sufficient depth of field.
the little plum shaped bit that the maroon stamen are joined to grow into the fruit... an orangey coloured eggshaped fruit.

And they do actually taste like the passion fruit tropical drinks
. I was never sure if they really were the same thing so I've only tasted rather than eaten!
