Just a quick question.....
When out and about on a walkabout, getting candid shots of various interesting subjects, what is the best way to have your camera ?
For example, around the neck hanging at stomach length ? Across the shoulder at hip length ? Held in hand with a hand strap ?

Credit Card out.

Nice heads up, that strap looks perfect. I usually feel like a tool wandering about with my camera!!

Cheers Stokes.

Lol... I get all my thinktank stuff from http://www.cliftoncameras.co.uk/

Haven't price marched for a while but they generally are on the money. I use their pouches and love up then, nice being able to leave a bag at home but still have access to kit. I have most of their pouches and with them all opens fully loaded, I do look a bit like a solider on patrol :) lol

As a recent Black Rapid convert, I can say that you'll have to pry my RS Sport 2 from my cold dead... shoulder. So much more comfortable, more secure and easier to get into a shooting position.

Other folks here have recommended Q Straps if you want a Black Rapid-like sling on a budget:

The only caveat I'd offer up is that if you're using a third party grip, you'll be entrusting the safety of your camera and lens to the strength of whatever cheap plastic the grip is made out of. I've previously used third-party grips, but using the Black Rapid has convinced me to save up for the official Canon BG-E9 for my 60D.

I have just bought a Camera Hand Strap as at the moment, I like carrying my camera in my hand, ready to shoot anything unusual, which, in Manchester, is a strong possibility, lol.
I might invest in what has been suggested.
Thanks.

At the moment i use the neck straps that my camera both have and wrap them around my hand as i shoot...lol
poor mans hand strap...

Thanks for the BlackRapid suggestion, that is my next purchase, I love the Joey mods, perfect for storing my iphone when out and about.

I've got a couple of Q straps and find them very comfortable when crossed over the chest hanging from opposite shoulders. The only small problem is the one that's underneath needs a bit of fiddling about with to use quickly.

Well, took the plunge and bought the BlackRapid RS-7 and, I love it, it's so comfortable and works perfectly, thanks guys.

Black rapid rs-7 is great and I'm glad I got one but it seems a tad overpriced for what you get.

I also have a home-made approximation of a shoot sack using a 'Built' neoprene laptop bag so my thinktank roller can stay in the car.

I got a Q strap last week and used it on Tues all day at a wedding and noticed a big difference over the neck strap. I've recently upgraded from a D90 and 17-50 to a D700 and 24-70 so there is quite a weight difference and the first few times with the new combo I was getting a sore shoulder/back. But I didn't on Tuesday despite it being the longest I've used/carried my camera.

I got the double Q strap (so I can use two bodies if need be) but its simple to use one half as a single strap. I'm using it with the handstrap to get the best of both. Very pleased with it.
