hi guys really struggling to get a sharp imagine with me nikkor 105mm VR f2.8 lens i know its me and not the lens, but has anyone got any ideas on settings i should be using?

there is no exif data, so the pics dont really help, its hard to judge by those pics anyway, i suggest just taking a pic of a solid object,

Not quite sure where the problem is. They look OK to me. Good focus and sufficient shutter speed to freeze the water drop. My only suggestion would be to get in closer to the drop itself as there is a lot of wasted frame around the edges. Doing so would give you far more detail.

ah you didnt say that, use the faster shutter speed you can get, and use a tripod, pre set the fous and away you go.

Get in much closer, and use external flashes, not on camera one. For precision you will need to fix your pipette on some clamp, to get consistent drops. Finally, get some proper background.
At least you are not dropping tomatoes in a wine glass, like I did a few years ago
