As the title suggests, I'm struggling to get a Hoya CPL off one of my lenses. The problem is I can't get sufficient purchase on the thin metal ring to twist the damn thing at all.

Anyone got any tips? Is there a trick to it that I'm missing?

Tried wearing rubber gloves to get a bit more friction?

Aha, hadn't thought of that. Been trying with a rubber band, but gloves might be better.

Will get the wife on it, when she gets home. ;-)

Ha, ha, did this with mine, my solution was to use the suction mount from my Sat Nav and cafefully apply to filter glass to form the suction and turn slowly, worked a treat.

Push the front of the filter against a rubber mouse mat and twist or against the side wall of a tyre, ensuring the tyre is clean, This has saved me a few times.

Not with a CPL though or you'll risk making it sticky to turn in the future! Rubber gloves or wrap a usb lead around it to get extra purchase.

Sorted. Took a few attempts with the rubber gloves, but it's off now.

Thanks for the advice.

Doh, opps you are right, to eager to post and forgot it was a cpl.

little tip, now that it's off get a soft grade pencil and rub it all over the threads, it'll help no end for future thread lubrication.
