Put them in the freezer for a couple of hours, then try and unscrew it while wearing marigolds.
Place the "cold" filters down on a firm surface covered in a tea-towel and press down with the whole palm and turn rather than trying to hold both filters by the edges with both hands...

I use the rubber sole of a trainer, odd as it may sound it has never let me down, it goes without saying that the sole needs to be cleaned of debris so not to damage the glass, pop a hand in the trainer and then with your free hand push and twist the filters to free them. Hope this helps

1hr in the freezer combined with the bottom of my rather manky well trodden pumas freed up the filter
