stuck uv filter

Hi

i have my daughters wedding tomorrow and after doing a wedding last weekend i have come to check my kit and the uv filter it stuck fast on my 70-200 .. does anyone have a tip to remove it

cheers for the reply , will that work on the uv , the problem with the uv is the outer ring turns .. My m8 has the kit with him tonight as he is taking some shots for me before i get to church with my daughter .. :thumbs:

A UV shouldnt have a turning outer ring. Are you sure its not a polariser?

One of those rubber strap oil filter wrenches would work too.

Sorry meant polariser !! ... Been a busy week getting ready for her wedding ... Dont really fancy putting and oil filter remover near a 70-200 mk11 :lol:
Anything else that might work ...
 
Try wearing a rubber kitchen glove for more grip. This has worked for me in the past.

I think you're using them wrong then... one of those gloves/mats for the limp-wristed to open jars works too.

Try stretching a wide elastic/rubber band around the filter.
 
I had a stuck polariser once and struggled with the rotating bit. I used a plastic cable tie tightened around the non-rotating bit to give me the required purchase.
 
Used the rubber band method myself on a stuck UV, came off so easily when it was applied.

Cheers guys .... i will get a large rubber band in the morning , and if that fails a cable tie ..

Careful use of a stilson wrench? :gag:

Seriously though, I have managed to remove one using a thin strip of duck tape over the stuck bit and the turney bit to give it extra leverage.
Just make sure to hold the end of the lens firmly.

Got it off matey! Used an oil filter removing tool. Made the lens go a bit egg shaped but reckon it will still work ok!!


No hate to admit it but the rubber band thing worked!
