Studio portrait photography - starters course?

Right. New Year resolution and all that.

I've never done a formal portrait session, never set anything up in a studio and never used anything other than natural light and the flash my camera came with to light a subject.

I'd like to change that but feel it'd be best to start off in some sort of formal setting.

Can anybody out there in TP land recommend a short weekend/evening course or somesuch to get me started on any or all of the above? The closer to Buckinghamshire the better.
