What's the best way to get models or people to sit for portraits? I'm looking to do some TFP sessions in a studio environment, any info welcomed.

you probably need to get yourself on purestorm but i'm not sure how long it will take to be accepted - you have to submit some images for consideration i think - Donald will tell you all you need to know.

I started with people I know, people at work. Offered free sittings, took photos of their children, all for the practice. Got paid in wine if they liked the shots, the best was a whole crate after we spent the afternoon shooting a large family photographing in a local garden.

I would avoid purestorm at all costs and go with modelmayhem!

i jus put a status on my facebook saying i need a model for a few hours, i got 4 nice looking women offer, i know have 2 of them i use often

The way it's run is a shambles, the admins/mods are incompetent at best and in all the years of using them I have only met one or two decent models who where punctual, reliable and experienced. I also had an issue that took them the best part of 6 months to try and sort out. In the end I just couldn't be bothered waiting for them to pull their fingers out, so quit the site.

They are the worst possible source of models on the net, and they have a terrible rep within the model industry.

Ah right thanks, I have sent off a request yesterday to join, I am just signing up to modelmayhem now

Joined modelmayhem a while back. Got tonnes of interested models, but as yet actually setting up shoots has been slow progress and haven't actually finalised anything. Ahh well, seems a good site, if horribly designed/laid out.

So far this year I have shot with
Modelmayhem 4 models
Netmodel 2models
TFPmodels group shoot 3 models
Friends of friends 2 models
Ex wife 1 model
Purestorm I would not touch
so on balance I would say at the moment Modelmayhem is the best

i would tend to agree with that regarding Purestorm... 2 friends registered a while back and still no response to their registration approval or further emails they sent ... :thumbsdown:
