stupid question - how to turn on liveview on a 450d?

Hi,

Very stupid question - I apologise in advance.

I have borrowed a friends 450d. All going well so far - but... I can't work out how to turn live view on - I can only get the screen with the settings - f/number etc.

Can anyone advise?

Ok, firstly you need to be in one of the 'creative' modes - P, Av, Tv, or M
Ensure that 'Live View function setting' is set to 'Enable' in the menus. Quit the menu.
Press the 'set' button to initiate Live View :thumbs:

Note: You can't do 'real' autofocus in this mode, it's often easier to manually focus it. If the camera's on a tripod this becomes much, much easier! In Live View, you can press the button at the top right on the back of the camera (with a + inside a magnifying glass!). This zooms into the section of the image inside the white rectangle on screen, which can be moved with the arrow buttons. Using this zoom allows you to go in 5x, 10x, or full screen. At 10x you get much more accurate focussing, if you've got a steady hand :)
