Stupid question re. Nikon D60 compatible lenses

Yes
I've had my D60 just over a year now, but only just started getting into photography, so now looking for some extra lenses etc..... This unfortunately is where my problem begins.

I'm looking for lenses that will still allow me to auto focus, but until recently I was under the impression that all new(er) lenses would have that function.

I've done a bit of research into lens compatibility and so far have Sigma HSM, Tamron IF, Nikon AF-S (but not all these are compatible). So, what else is out there/need to look for?

Cheers,

Andy

EDIT: will be looking to do pretty much everything (various lenses), ie. macro, portrait, motorsport etc

Cheers guys for the quick reply :) So whats the difference between the FX and DX format?

Cheers,

Andy

FX is full frame sensor and DX is a cropped frame sensor.....yours can use both types, being a DX.

Cheers mate. Right time to go spend some money

what are you thinking of buying out of interest?

I'm initially thinking something with a large aperture 1.4-2.8 either fixed or with a zoom function which I could use for portrait and macro pics. I'm going to have to save many pennies to go up to the 500mm range, so thought I'd start small

take a look at the Nikon 35mm f/1.8..got mine yesterday, very nice.
The Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro would be good, make sure you get one with a motor though
