Yes
...on the piece which attachs to the camera and stays on permanently to connect it to the head is a small red 'button'. It is a manfrotto mount. There is no hole on my d80 to accommadate for it and i've gone without it for years, but the mount always comes loose on the tripod...

...whats this little red dooberry for?

picture? :rules:

Is it a manfrotto tripod? Most of these have grub screws under the head mount to fix the head solidly.
As the previous answer, need pics, model # etc.

Yes it's a manfrotto tripod. I've left the gubbin at my London home...so i'll have to post a picture another time. It's a cheap 785.

some quick release mounts have a small button on the plate that was intended for cine cameras that had a special hole for it to locate in. It was never taken up by still cameras.
Though I wish it had been,,, as it stops the camera rotating on the plate.

Most modern manfrotto QR plates have the hole to screw in a button , but the last few I have bought, have not had one come in the package.
