"Stylish" DSLR Strap

another :thumbs: for Optech straps, even better when they have TP on them :D I have two of them, and compared to the stock strap it's like night and day, frankly I couldn't care less what the strap looks like, how often do you look at the strap :lol: but what I do care about is I can have my gripped 5D3 and 24-70 round my neck all day long and not really worry about it and my neck dosn't hurt afterwards, I can even have the 150-500 bigma on for over and hour and not worry :D

i was looking to get a custom slr strap but having seen the luma i am sold.
 
I have the TP Optech strap, but I do find it gets hot and is a bit short for me. I know I can over come the length issue.

But I do make a lot of rifle slings from Paracord, so I will probably buy an Optech extension set and use the side release buckles + the cord.

The wider weave is very comfortable and ventilated. Also paracord comes in loads of colours, but I will probably be boring and do it in black to match the rest of the strap.

That's a very nice collection of rifles you got there Richard, really good use of paracord for the straps, I not a user of the neck strap, can't be doing with a DSLR leaning on my all ready oversize belly drawing even more attention to it:lol:, i think i will have a go at making a nice wrist strap out of it, where do you get the paracord from if you don't mind me asking?

None of the rifles are mine, I have just made the slings.

I buy all mine from here http://www.thebushcraftstore.co.uk/us-gsa-compliant-550-paracord-248-c.asp

But if you let me know how long the strap will need to be, I have bags full of offcuts and might have one long enough. Mainly black, Olive Green and camo.

Roughly for each finished 25mm of length you need about 300mm of cord.

The one I have been using is about 185mm once stretched out, it could do with being longer and stronger and paracord seems ideal, is it possible to make a loop at one end like the picture below? so as then I can just loop it through the ring on the camera, I could do with it being at least 50mm longer.

That looks near on perfect:love:, like you say could be a little long, you should get a few done that are just the right size then stick a few on ebay, i'd buy one :) for sure.

I think the loop part to attach to the camera could do with being 60mm long,

The part for the wrist is just right on the one I have in that picture which is 135mm when pulled flat so total 270mm.

I find the 35mm that attaches to camera just a little tight, but then there is the plastic bit that is 15mm so that's 50mm in the strap in my picture, so 60mm would be more like it I think just to get a little more movement from the camera to the wrist.

Just measured it. The piece that attaches to the camera is about 90-100mm and the inside of the loop is about 340mm around.

That ebay one looks quite nice, and yeah I am not keen having the camera make slapped all over the strap. Unless Nikon want to offer me free gear for doing so :thumbs:
