Sub £50 tripod

There is no such thing: you want cheap, light and sturdy.

The fact that you are using a mirrorless camera makes it a little easier, but you will probably have to up your budget a lot to get something that you will be happy with or you will have to pick either heavy or sturdy.

Buy cheap, buy twice with tripods is my advice

You make massive compromises with cheap ones that tend to be unstable, flimsy and difficult to set up

Double your budget and get something half decent
 
For speed of set up, a ball head - I use a trigger type one (Manfrotto 322) but they can be a bit prone to creep and sometimes drift a little from where you thought you had it set up. For accuracy, a geared one - I use a Manfrotto 410. Slightly slower to set up but once you've faffed with a ball head to get it perfect, the geared one could actually save you some time! However, geared heads are a lot more expensive than ball heads and aren't as common on the 2nd hand market.

Buy it :D it should serve you well :thumbs: especially if your getting it in you £50 budget :D
 
Personally, I don't much like 3 way heads for photographic use and IMO the 055 is marginally better than the 190 (however, I use 190s, mainly because they were cheaper!)
 
 
I have that 190 PRO but in black and it alone cost me way more than what you appear to have paid! I hope there's a QR plate included - if not, they're available from most Manfrotto stockists.

The advantage of the Pro over the straight 190 is that the centre column can be mounted horizontally as well as vertically to get it lower. It's a bit of a faff to do but doesn't take too long. If you can't work out how, ask here!

Yeah £70 delivered, but yeah the next question was the plate.

What exact model do i need?
 
Well a big THANKS to everyone on their recommendations and pitfalls of a cheap tripod (Which is all i have known).

As you know i got a Manfrotto 190 PRO (just rived 10 mins ago) and what a difference like night and day, built like a tank and completely rigid and the ability to have it side on/down on the ground etc. its just brilliant.

Also its mint condition.

So thanks for all the help.

Now must get the slow water effect now before to light goes......
 
Milky water (!) is easier at dawn and dusk - no need for filters.
