I looking for a lens that I can use for helping out as a 2nd tog for weddings. I helped out on a few earlier this year and was able to borrow a 18-200VR which I found out was really good for most if not all situations with the good range it had and even in low light taking photos from the back of the church.

So I guess do I stick with the 18-200 or is there something else anyone can suggest? up to the value above?

Thanks

Simon

When I'm second shootering I mainly use my 24-70 f2.8.
The f2.8 really helps in churches and the like where the light is usually pretty crappy.
Should be able to get a Sigma 24 or 28 - 70mm for less than £500 easy enough.

Reach is fine, bit if that reach means you loose two stops of light then it's value diminishes.

How about a Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 used? Maybe stretch it and get that plus a 35mm F2

I was thinking about the 70-200 but was worried it would not be wide enough for some shots and as at the moment I only have 1 body :( it might mean changing lenses quite often.

Blimey even I sound too bloody fussy to myself now!!!

I know it will cost a lot and It probably will never be bought, but is there a lens with a range close to 18-200 with the larger apertures?

if you're second tog I'd suggest hiring a Nik 70-200/2.8. The wider stuff is more likely to be done by main tog.
