Hi,

as per my sig, I have a 24-105mm and 100-400mm lens, I also have a 50mm F1.8 II. I do have a couple of other lenses, but will be selling them with my old camera soon.

Most of my pictures are of the family and family events, I also like taking pictures at the zoo. The 24-105 only goes down to F4 so I was thinking of something like 24-70mm F2.8L to cover me indoors a bit more. I do like the 50mm but was thinking about upgrading it to 50mm F1.4 as it is a bit faster.

What do you think, will I be missing any focal lenth that you think I could benifit from, any different lenses to the ones above?

Any advice greatfully accepted.

How about the EF-S 17-55 f2.8 IS - I really like this lens, in fact it is the one that gets the most use. Great in low light and my walkaround - Even though it's an EF-S and not an L it does get good reviews and those that have them do rate them.

Personally I find it sings on my 50D and I wouldn't swap it for any L glass.

The 24-70mm f2.8 is a great lens, so is the 24-105mm f4, the suggestion of the 17-55mm f2.8 EF-S lens is a good choice, what you have to ask yourself is, and look at your images, what focal length do I take most of my images at? I think for most of your wildlife (zoo) images the 100-400mm will cover, so you really need to look at your images and see what range of focal lengths you take, or maybe ask yourself what to take if you had that extra zoom or wider angle. Another good lens is the 70-200mm f2.8 for candid shots, if your standing out of the way, or look at the primes like the 85mm or 135mm.... just some suggestions. For wildlife other than the 400mm f5.6, you start to climb Everest in the budget stakes.

I like the look of the 10-22 and price isn't to bad, but out of these I think I would be leaning towards the 17-40L but then I do like the idea of a UWA in my bag...........................:bang:

The 100-400mm was great at the zoo, I got some great shots.

I did have a look at the 70-200mm and it looks good. I will have to go through some of my shots and see what focal lenths I have been using the most, then look at a lens that will suit me.
