Yes
I recently decided to try more landscape photography and looked for something to help me see where the sun sets, hoping to get into position for specific villages or buildings/structures. I found this site.

http://www.suncalc.net

Any others you use?

I suppose there are phone apps, but I'm still on a stupid phone, so no good to me :D

Get an iphone and the photographers emphemeris app - or an analogue budget device (compass)

Cheers. I will have to get a decent phone again soon and get that app

I also use the Photographer's Ephemeris but the OS map of the area you are interested in is also very useful.

A compass alone is not enough though, you also need the information as to where the sun will set.

TPE also takes into account where the sun will set behind mountains, etc., and gives the time it will set.

I did wonder what sort of charts/info i'd need with just a compass and whether it would limit the spontaneity of such ventures; i'm not very well organised and would no doubt leave the one bit of paper I needed behind :D
I think it's high time I got myself a decent phone again, so TPE/Lighttrac seem like good options.

Google Earth is quite good too, it helps you visualise the scene with the sun setting/rising etc.

i use sun surveyor. i've got an android phone, but i believe the app is also on the other appstore people rave about.

it's got an ace 3d compass, and a virtual mode where the path of the sun is overlaid on the camera view so you can see which exact tree or building the sun is going to appear behind at the exact time. it's pretty accurate too. i would show you that but the sky is dull grey here, but you get the idea.

it's also got all the useful times that you'll need too.

+1 for this (for those with smart phones).
Its what I use for my sunset shots and its very accurate as long as your phones sensors are calibrated for the compass.
