Hi All

I was out last Friday at the shoreline adjacent to the Second Severn Crossing trying out my new ND4 and ND8 filters (thanks snapper!) and whilst I was there, there was also a chap there taking similar shots himself, and we got chatting. Thoroughly nice chap he was, so I informed him about TP and he said he'd take a look.

However, when we were there, he had a fabulous small (A6) chart that he had printed out and laminated, that when a compass was placed on it and pointed North, showed you where the sunrise and sunset locations on the horizon would be. He literally did that... placed the compass on the chart, aimed it North... and lo & behold the lines pointed directly to where the Sun was setting.

He mentioned the www site where he got the chart from, but like the right donut I am, I forgot what the specific name was. It was something like busco.co.uk or similar.

Does anyone know where I can obtain such a chart...? I found that very useful.

Ta.

Google it :D

Now that's a very interesting tool to keep handy. Thank you for posting the link.

Anyone know of such a chart for my part of the world? It would be very helpful, even though we seem to have sun 24/7 :p
... and is part of the reason I posted the request on here rather than try to find it on google... now everyone here can benefit...

It's always nice to share, thank you

If someone can share a similar chart for Saudi Arabia, I'd happily send her / him a carton of sand from one of my dunes :p

Agreed, lovely bit of software. I use it almost every time I go out now.

I've heard there's a new version out in 2013 being produced together with both Nikon's & Canon's then latest DSLRs

I don't know much about the Canon one, but the Nikon will be called a D4r (the 'r' stands for remote)

Apparently, there's a sub-menu option for such as "Long streaky clouds at dawn facing East", and you use that software to plot the position you'd like the shot taking from

Then you load the D4r onto its motorised cradle & pop it outside on your driveway, it then sets off using its inbuilt sat nav and some hours later it emails you a test image for your consideration. If you like the position it's shooting from, you can then select an additional program (via text) that it searches for such as 'Lead-in lines', 'Big rock for foreground detail' etc. and again some hours later it'll return to you with up to 16gb of raw images - ringing your doorbell via radio control for you to get out of bed & let it in

It then automatically downloads the lot to your computer via Nikon Transfer 2013v1.01, assesses them all for focus, composition, colour, etc. then deletes the lot and posts this message...

"All images deleted to save you time doing it yourself, as you'd only have over-processed them, vignetted them to death and turned the sky purple "

Or so I'm told - honest :D
