I've never really taken any sunset shots so thought I'd give it a go. I just basically took as many shots as I could at different angles and settings before the sun went down and these 2 turned out the best. Looking back, I think my aperture setting was too high as the trees aren't too clear, but as I was shooting hand held I'm not sure I could have lowered it very much? Any tips would be appreciated.

Norman, I would have been tempted to get a lower perspective with the trees more silhouetted against the sky rather than the houses/buildings coming through which IMO detract from the photo.

The sun in the first also looks a touch too bright/blown - worth a little toning down perhaps?

I'd also suggest that, given the height of the sun and the cloud almost obscuring it, you've tried too hard in PP to raise the exposure on the land, hence it doesn't really look at all natural, and in the second shot has resulted in some halo issues around the trees.
