Sunset over the Welsh Mountains

Couple of things.

1. The composition and the immediate foreground in the bottom left. I'd probablky have got ahead of that - a few paces maybe and just frame the tree without this distracting messy stuff at the bottom
2. The exposure. Without blending exposures, using filters or bracketing a scene like that's a big ask for a digital camera. To make it easier why not try shooting away from the sun - rather than towards with. It will make getting an exposure that fits within the dynamic range of the camera's sensor a lot easier. You can then process as you see fit knowing all the pixels in your file have some colour value. A lot are totally blown out in that sky (so you'll see r 256 g 256 b 256) which means all is lost
