Ok so Iv taken the wife away for a weekend and we are on our last night so iv decided I want to try and get some nice shots of the sunset and of her in the sunset.

With me I have a Canon 1000D, Canon 24-70 f2.8L and 2 flash guns with triggers.

Does anyone have any tips for me?

I hope im not too late, but expose for the sunset and use flash to fill in the subject.

Experiment quickly though! i usually use my flash at 1/4-1/8 power in this situation.

Oh, and flashes set 45 degree's from her and maybe 5 foot away, I usually go 1 foot less then i am from my subject :)

Have fun though!

Thanks matey will have a go and I will post up my shots once I'm home and checked them on the big screen ;-)

For sunset I underexpose ever so slightly to bring out the colours and depth. As said then use the flash to light your wife :)

Maybe take a few shots with her in and out of them too.

As Mank says, underexpose the sunset to bring out the colours, with flash to expose the wife.
Just looked outside and you may already be out with her, so good luck !

As I am way too late to post anything sensible I will tell you my story

On our last holiday (me and the better half) every day I said we must get down the beach to take a picture of the sunset, the very last day we eventually went down and I was about 10minutes too late!

When we walked down the coastal view was great, plenty of foreground interest and the sky looked superb.

I was gutted we had not ventured down sooner in the holiday.

Moral of the story, don’t leave it till the last day :'(

Lol I hear you! I went to take a picture today (my last night) and realised the sun don't set over the beach but literally the other way from the beach! Was not a happy bunny!!!
