Title says it all, I'm having problems getting hold of the new 24mm mark ii lens.

I guess this is to be expected given it's shiny and new!

phoned warehouse express (10 on back order), park and mifsuds and checked B&H in the US, all are waiting on stock.

Has anyone come across these in stock anywhere?

just talked to Calumet, 6 on back order going back to early Jan.

"at the rate we've had these in stock it will take us 1 & a half years to clear our backlog!"

:(

Unfortunately it's typical of Canon and probably Nikon in general with high end glass, as the recession is hitting businesses globally.

I'd imagine production has been cut back, as demand decreases

I could understand that if there didn't seem to be a global supply shortage and significant back orders outstanding.

this seems to be a similar story to getting hold of the 5d mark 2.

Canon reported that sales of high end DSLR and lens have increased despite the recession.

Are they just very bad at getting new products to market and matching supply with demand?? :gag:

I was speaking to a guy yesterday at one of the big retailers who said they're finding it terriby difficult to get stocks of some items from Canon - even relatively mainstream things like the 24-70mm f/2.8L. (OK, I know its an expensive pro lens, but it's mainstream compared to the 24mm f/1.4 L MkII !) He said that Canon have cut back production and are favouring the USA over the UK with what they do produce.

I don't seem to have a problem in finding a 5DMKii in stock, it's everywhere online.

What is difficult to get hold of is the spare battery for the 5D2, Jessops in worcester told me they have 80 on order !

I found that when looking for my 5D2 end of April. Would show as available online, but when phoned the store they didn't have any. Of course could be different now :)

Yeah the LP-E6 is like gold dust, could not believe that Southampton LCE had one when I went in to get my new lens the other week, so grabbed it :D
