Great shot although I'm finding it difficult to get a sense of perspective! The surfer appears close to the wave breaking on the beach, it's almost like an optical illusion.

The surfer was going further out in the sea to try and get a good wave. He did it in the end and was quite good.

Your horizon is very sharp as a result of the processing which gives the yellow/orange band an almost unnatural look. This will not be to everyon'es taste perhaps but as you can see from comments most people DO like it.

You could always throw up an unedited version so people could compare and contrast.
