Midlands Surprise View Car Park Peak District

Just a heads up and I don’t know whether this is just seasonal but surprise view car park in the Peak District has now restricted access on Fridays and weekends.

Open 24hrs Monday-Thursday

Open 0900-2100 Friday-Sunday

Not sure why this is in place currently

It’s a real shame especially coming into the peak season of colours and mist.

I only became aware of this after seeing the gate closed last Saturday and the timings were confirmed on another Peak District site.

Is it another area ruined by overtourism?

I wonder if there were campervans overnight at weekends.

I think it must be but I bet a lot of them were photographers who want the early start there which is a real shame.
