It is an interesting lens? Can you get any shots with it on 1D mkIV? I would like to know the outcome as this is something I am considering.

I've been a bit dubious of the 2x extender on a 400mm lens, but I managed to snap this at the weekend which I was really chuffed with.... this single image has made me decide to keep the extender and try to work harder with it!.

I heard about aperture.
Does the AF still work, and how accurate is it? Any other issues?

AF works perfectly and is very accurate (HSM motor, albeit an older version that is not completely silent). No other problems. On the MKIV AF works with the 1.4TC making the lens 560mm f8. At 800mm f11 it still works but with manual focusing and it is not as sharp as I would want it to be as I cannot step it down a tad more as I can do with the D60.
