Swans

My second day with a digital camera. These are wild swans in a lake by my house, got hissed at a bit at first but they calmed down and let me get really close.

Advise welcome. It was going slightly dark, how can I improve the brightness when taking photos in dusk lighting without using the flash. I have lots of pics but they are to dull.

Well when the lights gone Tim - it's gone! :shrug: Using flash in failing light produces really artificial looking results IMO. These pics are OK. I'd pick the one with the young uns, but there's quite a bit of wasted space at the top and right. Try a crop to concentrate interest.

I think no2 looks a little "stuffed" although I like the picture.

Personally I think number 2 is great, except for the end of his beak being cut off

3 & 5 work well too, and the crop is a definate improvement.

I certainly wasn't taking anything that good the day after I got my cam!

I was concentrating on the eye and forgot about the beak!!
