Hi,

just wondering if someone could advise me.

i have a sony 18-55mm lens and a 55-200mm lens.

i was thinking of selling these and getting a 18-200mm lens, i know the focal lengths are gonna be covered but do i miss out on anything if i have just the one lens.

in my mind i feel that this gives me more scope and reduces the need to keep swapping lens when out and about.

Any suggestions?

Do-it all lenses have a reputation for being less than ideal in terms of quality/distortion etc, but the Sony 18-250 seems to get very good reviews.

was looking at the 18-200mm lens

would this still be suitable for landscape work?
 
Dont know about the Sony range, but generally heyho is right, the trade off for convenience is the fact that IQ will often be not as good.
 
i would still expect good mage quality from a new lens even if teh focal range covers what would be two lenses

:plusone: Although you would expect a new lens to give you a great image quality, there is sometimes a compromise to be made, esp with the all-in-one lenses, and cost comes in to the equation as well for the manufactorers. Obviously, it also depends on what you are comparing to.

Some of these superzom lenses do get good write ups - have you had a chance to try one / play with one and see what results you get ?

Is there anyway if trying out lenses prior to a purchase?
