Should I swap my Canon 100-400mm L for a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L USM?
I do a lot of wildlife and sports photography' not sure if the extra zoom is worth while .
 
How many of your wildlife and sports photo's have been taken between 200-400mm ? If it's hardly any then go for it, the faster 70-200 will be a benefit. If it's loads then stick with the 100-400.
 
I would keep it for the long end, although I love my F/2.8, I would prefer the 100-400 in terms of the length used, most birds I see are worth using 300mm+ but as Stu said, if it's speed you're looking for then choose the F/2.8 :)
What about saving for the Sigma instead? Cheaper than the L and still very sharp!
 
For wildlife, not a chance 100-400 will be absolutely superior. I really need a longer lens myself as the 70-200 for any wildlife shots I have done isn't enough! It's aswell the D800 has 36mp for cropping!!!
 
I went out to a local park the other day with my 5D3 and 70-200 f2.8L IS MkII. I was looking for squirrels and birds to shoot and I did get some great shots close up, but anything over about 15-20 feet I found I wanted longer. I put my MkIII 2x converter on and found that was so much better but the IQ took a bit of a hit. If it was me I'd keep the 100-400 for wildlife shots, the 70-200 is woefully short for most things.
 
Thanks for the advice guys I am going to keep the 100-400mm and save up for the 70-200mm.
