OK, I have a 5D mk II which I'm very happy with about a year in, and a nice selection of lenses - 24-70 L, 17-40 L, 70-200 L and 50mm f/1.4.

I moved over to Canon when I went digital.. I used to shoot film on Nikon, and I have a couple of film bodies and two lenses left, having sold the rest - a 35-80mm kit lens and a manual-focus 50mm f/1.2 AIS.

The 50mm cost me around £400 second-hand when I bought it around 15 years ago, and I'm reluctant to see it go.. but it's not doing any good sitting on a shelf gathering dust either.

So, I've had the idea of getting a second DSLR body - a Nikon D700! - so I can put the 50mm to use.

I also like the idea of running two systems side-by-side to see which I prefer. If I feel myself leaning towards the dark side, I can start acquiring Nikon kit and gradually offloading the Canon gear.

Is this a completely crazy idea? Does anyone run two different systems?

Could you not just rent a D700 to try one?

Also, why not try one of the lens adapters for your 50/1.2?

How about a EOS to NIKON adapter? If you have manual focus and an aperture ring then it will work. I know you can get Micro 4/3 to Nikon adapters. Try ebay.

the f1.2 is a stunning lens!!!!
