I use both the MAC and PC . The best thing I did was to bin the mouse supplied by apple and get a logitech or similar. When using Photoshop for pc and the mac there are hardly any noticeable differences.

I thought the same thing. I use ergonomic mice etc.. so hopefully my USB ones will work fine

We were looking at using a wacom tablet with it - will that pose any issues?

I'd wager more people, by a margin as wide as the atlantic, have no problems with Macs than do.

I love mine, i swapped my laptop for a macbook, i swapped my desktop for an iMac and i even managed to talk my boss into letting me have a Mac at work.

Have not missed anything about a PC to be honest. All i would suggest is maybe getting a wired keyboard and mouse as they eat batteries.....

Make sure you plug in an external HDD and use time machine as that is a great bit of software.

Snow leopard is out on friday so you will see massive gains from that as well.

I wouls recommend using the Apple mouse and getting used to it as it is better that a normal one as you can scroll the ball in all directions but it does get clagged up a bit with dead skin....!

Another -1 for the mighty mouse, sure it looks pretty, but it trashes your hand, the ball grimes up horribly, and let's face it, you _very_ rarely need to scroll horizontally anyway these days... even in final cut pro I far prefer to drag and grab horizontally rather than scroll with some miniscule ball...

I'm on the fence with the mighty mouse.
I actually find the horizontal scrolling incredibly useful. But my 1st one clagged up and became almost unusable very quickly.
Apple replaced it no problems and with my new one I've been very careful to keep my hands ultra clean and it worked faultlessly until my mate used it with dirty hands.

It's a great bit of kit, but too fragile.

And another -1 for the mighty mouse. Classic case of form over function. It's a terrible mouse, in my opinion. Got shut of mine pretty soon after using it once.

Nope, I use an Intuos 4, no issues at all. Quite frankly, anyone that's serious about Photoshop should get a tablet.

If you've not ordered it yet, it will ship with OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and iLife 09.


As for Mac vs PC arguments, anyone who starts these really should go and get drunk or laid, really, have they nothing better to do than troll Mac / PC threads? It's really boring :shrug:

Im ordering it with 4TB HDD onboard, I have 2 NAS's thatautomagically mirror each with 4tb's in too. I will be upgrading to a faster network switch

One will not do...get six at least!

And be sure to mount them in a steel cage built out of SAE 4130 or better.

I wish it was a toy. It will be the main stay of the business and my working life for at least a few years

I would also recommend donating the Eizo to me, especially if it's a coloredge

Is this for Web Design or Retouching work?

If you're retouching, I'll reiterate my recommendation for an Intuos tablet, you can work so much quicker. I don't do web design, so can't comment on whether that would be quicker.

both web work and image editing - I shoot images for websites and I shoot weddings and portraits. I will go and look at the tablet.

Am I right in assuming with an adapter I can run 2 monitors of this set up?
