Synapse

It's difficult to get them sharp because the tendrils are constantly in motion: even dialing in shutterspeeds of around 1/1000 weren't getting me usable images. The added problem is that, if you autofocus, the shifting plasma on the centre globe throws it out constantly, so you have to manually focus - but then the shifting plasma does out of focus if you're using a shallow DoF... It turned out to be really technically challenging for a still life shot.

Looking forward to trying again.

It does create odd elements that you can use elsewhere, though.

The physicist in me is excited. I understand the challenging aspect of this, however, slightly too small a DoF for my liking.

As an extension - what would a long exposure look like with these? Could be interesting.

Hmmm. Would require very careful control of the lighting conditions.

And experiment for the weekend, methinks.
