I thought I posted this last night - must've hit preview. Whatever.

I am looking for a sync/off camera flash lead and as the Contax ttl system only has a couple of connections would I be OK getting a Canon one since it has the Contax contacts (oo - see what I did there :) ) as well as the others? Upside is I could then use it for the 300D as well

I think I see where you're coming from. It might work, but I'm not sure many peeps on here will have tried that particular combination.

I think you'll have to try it. Flash In The Pan (see classified advertisers) is selling Canon leads for £18. Worth a punt I think.

PS If it doesn't work, I'll have the lead off you for a tenner ;)

If you get the lead for your camera then it will be the same as if you put your flash on the camera so if it works in the hot shoe this will work on the lead.

Hi Chaz - I think you may have missed the point here. The "lead for the camera" is scary-price, I was asking if I could use another than had the same connections but more of them, since they are cheaper.

Hoppy - yeah...

Well, I went for the Contax lead in the end... firstly I do not actually have any flashes dedicated to the Canon so any old lead will do for that camera - but mainly I reasoned that a TTL system would not be so effective off camera, especially if the light is bounced/reflected/generally abused before it gets back to the camera. So, as I do have a couple of Contax flashes it was the Contax lead that won out despite the extra expense, which wasn't so bad after all anyway

I now await the myriad posts telling me my reasoning is off!

May I be the first?

Hmm... so good or bad reasoning then? Does it work? No idea, it's not here yet! The clamp thing is though - bit of a beast and bigger than I expected. Well no, *heavier* than I expected I suppose. We shall see.
