I have recently acquired an iPhone4 locked to T-Mobile and I m also on a T-Mobile monthly contract but wish to unlock it so that I can use it anywhere on the globe. Does anyone know if T-Mobile lets you officially unlock the iPhone4 similar to O2 and whether it will be easy to call T-Mobile and ask for the Mini-Sim.

Any advise would be very helpful. :)

Firstly ,it will be easier to just cut your sim down (and cheaper if they will do it), there are numerous how to guides on the net, or try your local phone shop to see if they have a sim cutter, mine does them for £1.

Regards unlocking, o2 don't currently offer unlocking on the iPhone 4, I don't think any of the networks do presently, but a nice phone call with a sad story of being sent somewhere abroad for work (or a sick relative) for 2 months and you really need to use a foreign sim. If you get a sympathetic CSA they might well process it for you.

Many thanks Dave1. :)

my iphone 4 came from apple on 02 but i have unlocked it

Just google iphone 4 unlocking, I can't think what its called off hand but theirs free software to unlock every generation of iphones as long as you havnt got the latest firmware.

unfortunately there is no unlock for either version 4.1 or 4.2 on the iPhone 4.

The great majority of iphone 4's are on at least 4.1 (I bought mine about a month after release and it was already on 4.1, one of the major reasons I bought mine factory unlocked).

I was under the impression that 4.1 could be unlocked with ultrasnow but it looks like its only the 3G/S that can be unlocked with that firmware.

Still worth checking your firmware version though as if you happen to still have 4.0.1 you`ll be in luck.
