Tablets?

I'm getting one next week, my budget isn't massive though. Which should I be looking at?

Nice. I think it'll really help me lasso people's eyes in PS. I'm really cack-handed.

First time you use a tablet you will be like a dog with two tails, especially if it is pressure sensitive and I'm sure they all have this feature now. It will really be a tool you wish you had years ago. I have an old serial Intus and it's still going strong six years on.

Am i correct in thinking that these take away the need for a mouse in photoshop, and you can be more accurate?

I did see one in a Tesco Metro I believe (BIG TESCOS) and I did a double take as the Wacom really are the Rolls Royce of tablets and that price is cheap as chips.

Hate using mice for anything now, even general computer operation.

I wouldn't go that far myself as I think it is a case of the right tool for the job. I use the mouse for general computer work and only pick up the pen for gfx stuff. Maybe Richard Peters has an A4 and it is better suited though, mine is an A6 so it is a little restrictive.

The Intuos4 Medium is a little bigger than A5 with surface area. I think it is just what you get used too though. At work most of the computers I use are the design departments and they only have tablets connected (well, there are mice but they are pushed back under the monitors) so I've used them for years now so I just find it quicker to and easier to use the tablet rather than swapping back and forth. I think if you have one of the massive tablets though like the A3 or the I4s large and XL then it might be a bit more of a nightmare trying to do daily operations with one :)
