I had a bamboo as my first tablet. It really was worth it, as I wasn't sure they were for me. They do take a lot of getting used to, but if you stick with it it becomes great. I am currently selling mine to upgrade to a Intuos4. The bamboo is great I have just decided I now want something bigger.
I bought the Wacom Bamboo Fun Touch and Pen a couple of months ago I think it's great now..............however when you first get it you will think someone has chopped off your hand and stitched it on backwards they take some practise. Put your mouse in a drawer and leave it there till your used to using it!
My current problem is my Camera is currently not in use because I've found I like digital painting! this is my latest effort:
I looked at getting a tablet a couple of months ago (never got round to it in the end) but I did find quite a lot of good reviews for the Aiptek Slim 600U Premium II. Looked a lot bigger than the Wacom offerings as the same price (£60), that's what I was planning on going for.
