I just did a google search on this. When you buy the Tag you register it and decide if you wish to put an upgraded reward on your item. Tag Bak will then pay up to 5 times the value of the amount set ie. you set £5 and they pay £25. Have a look here https://www.tagbak.net/terms at the T&C's for a full rundown.

If I was to register my 5D3 and put up to £100, then Tag Bak should pay £500. But I wonder how much they investigate the loser and finder as it seems wide open to fraudulent use to me. What's to say I drop off my camera at an acquaintences house and then go and tell Tag Bak I've lost my camera, a few days later he contacts Tag Bak and tells them he's found it. You get the camera back and he gets a net £400 reward after giving you your £100 back, which you then split between you. Ok, so that's fraud and I'd never condone it, but could they 'prove it'. Surely it can't be that simple, there must be catches somewhere.

I get your point but couldn't you just do the same with normal insurance?
