hi All
in the light of recent events I am seeking advice on travelling with my camera gear. I'm travelling to peru next month. In the past I used to take my gear as hand luggage but now am tempted to put it in a pelicase in the hold. Anyone any advice on the best way to travel with gear?

Also anyone use a portable storage device instead of a laptop and hard drives to download pics ?
( I'm looking to reduce weight and power cables)

My gear: Eos 1ds 3 with 28L,35 L, 50, 85L, 70-200 L and 5d as back up body. 580 flash, tripod.
Apple macbook 15", 2 lacie external drives, card reader.

thanks in advance.

Take it as han luggage. You're still allowed too, and means your expensive gear isn't thrown around under the plane.

hand luggage, always.

thats alot of kit to be thrown around!

Regardless of whether getting thrown around is a risk or not, what you have to consider is can you successfully carry on your trip without the equipment that you checked in and never arrived? When you've arrived at a destination and you suitcase hasn't, as has happened to me, then you think very carefully what you put in to a checked-in suitcase.
